who we are

AK-JETAA

is the Alaska Chapter of the Japan Exchange & Teaching Alumni Association, founded as a formal chapter in 2016.

In collaboration with our partner organizations, our officers work to cultivate a cultural bridge between Japan and Alaska. In addition to supporting the JET Program and current & former JETs, we educate our local communities about the cultures of Japan.

One day after I arrived in Japan, I started learning a new instrument. One month later, I was performing it in my first festival (poorly). One year later, I was in the newspaper for winning an award for a performance. Japan was a wild time.
